1. Are all these paintings in oil colors ?
Most of them are, very few are in water color.

2. How long will it take for an artist to do a painting like this ?
Depending upon the size and the complexity of the subject, an oil painting may take somewhere between 3 days and 30 days (at an average of 6 hours per day), but it also depends on the speed of work of the particular artist, which varies considerably, from person to person. For Lohith, an oil painting of the size of 24" x 36" takes an approximate time of 20 canvas hours. Tanjore Paintings take much longer and a lot of intricate work.

3. How is the price of a painting fixed ?
To tell the truth, there is no universal yardstick. The price of a painting depends on various factors like how famous the artist is, the size of the painting, the intricacy of the subject, and lastly the expenditure the artist has incurred on the materials and so on, but not necessarily in the same order of preference.
4. Are all the paintings shown here available for purchase ?
Some of them are already sold, and the others are available. But it is always possible to make the painting if you are interested.
About Frames :
5. Do these paintings come with suitable frames, or the buyers have to get them framed ?
The cost of frames vary and is in a very wide range. One may go for an ordinary frame, which may cost a meager 'one tenth of the cost of the painting', and frames are available worth more than the cost of the paintings too ! To avoid complications, most of these paintings are offered without frames, so that the purchaser may select a frame which suits the decor of the place where it is going to be displayed. But on special request, the paintings may be framed and dispatched. All the prices quoted are without frames.
6. The sizes of the paintings are displayed here. If somebody wants the same subjects in different sizes, how does one go about ? How long does it take ? Will the prices vary ?
Paintings, in sizes other than mentioned, may be made and supplied on special request. The artist may be contacted on e-mail and further details discussed. The time taken is usually 2 to 3 weeks. Smaller sizes won't always necessarily bring down the prices in direct proportion. The best is to discuss with the artist.

7. Is the artist personally available to discuss ?

8. Is there any way of viewing these paintings other than through the web ?
Not immediately. Some of these paintings may be made available to see (especially Tanjore Paintings) during the 'Iyengars By the Bay' meet (San Jose) on the 19th November 2006.
